On the first day, I made an agreement. Bartering unwittingly with a singular possession, my innocent soul. Years ago, a memorial pool. Infinite and deep and I suspended, belying care behind its suffocating caress. Years from now, a fear. Time's tumultuous weather drowning my frangible heart. The last day bestows a formidable gift. An amicable farewell turn in the light of the dazzling sun as all that I am and all that I never was. Everyday a crumbling deity wears frailer still by my own insatiable search for meaning, both of us divine in our symbiotic imperfection and sorrow. And today is but a prayer. For me, for you, for all.
